My almost 6-year-old has really been getting a kick out of these little wind up robotic toys by Kikkerland. I visited their absurdly fun booth at the National Stationery Show in New York last month and shortly after I went to their website to order a few for our home. I couldn’t resist ordering the Pea Wind Up and the Awika Wind Up. Since they arrived on our doorstep, they have been sparking and scurrying around on a daily basis.
Besides being a distinctive and innovative design company, Kikkerland is also mindful and philanthropic. For example, since it’s introduction in 2002, all royalties from Zécar Flywheel Car plus a generous Matching Fund from Kikkerland Design Inc. go towards the Mil Folhas Project—a project aiming to reforest a public area in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil.
